I just received a call from someone claiming to be the Halifax Animal Protection Society, stating that they have my cat and requesting confirmation of the microchip number. They said the cat needs surgery and asked for a $1100 deposit. When my boyfriend yelled “That’s a scam,” they immediately hung up. It’s scary that they can spoof phone numbers like that.
